Roomzzz Hotel, Newcastle Upon Tyne



Client: Broadley Group

Specification: SFS Framing, Cement Particle Board, Foamglas Insulation and El Zinc Standing Seam Facade

Value: £250,000


Description: As one of the only specialist zinc contractors operating from the North East, the client hired JHM to design the zinc detailing required for a cladding package. We successfully overcame problems the client faced with the timber kit tolerance. This involved us creating a bespoke system to line and level the building before we could install the contracted works.

The client required a compliant system to satisfy building regulations regarding fire safety which JHM was able to deliver.

The Burrell Collection Museum – Glasgow 



Client: Kiers Construction

Specification: Foamglas Insulation, Torch on Felt, Stainless Steel Standing Seam Roofing and Cladding, Lead Detailing

Value: £900,000

Description: The client approached JHM because we are a specialist contractor and met the specification requirements regarding design capabilities, private indemnity insurance and FTMRC membership.

We provided a full design package, which includes a full through roof warranty. The project involved removing the original stainless steel roof and substructure due to its poor performance.

We created a newly designed system which has improved the performance of the building regarding fire rating and condensation which was a problem within the original design, JHM also introduced new methods to ensure the new roof would stand the test of time and perform as a stainless steel should for a lifetime.

Barts Square Phase 3- Little Britain - London

Client: McLarens Construction

Specification: Aurubis Pre-weathered Brass and Aurubis Royal (Copper) Standing Seam Roofing and Cladding and Façade, including Tyvek Fire Kerb

Value: £150,000

Description: This project was located in the busy city centre of London on a high profile development, therefore the work carried out had to be of the highest standard of craftsmanship which JHM delivered, the shape of the building proved to be very challenging and also very rewarding, the particular project was vetted by the FTMRC and labelled as excellent for its standard. The end project looks fantastic in London’s Skyline.

Ravenswick Hall - Kirkbymoorside - Yorkshire

Client: Sir Robert McAlpine
Specification: Aurubis Half Hard Copper in Mill Finish

Value £20,000

Description: This project is a one off and looks amazing, the client wanted to have something special within the grounds of the property and chose a copper dome with ‘fish scale’ shingles as the feature. Each shingle was measured and fabricated on site to suit the setting out to the dome, our craftsmen has shown great skill and attention to detail on this project.

The Old House Woodbridge

Client: Private Owner

Specification: VM Zinc Roofing and Cladding, Standing Seam and Sinewave Panels in Quartz and Anthra Finish and Marley Fibre Cement Roofing and Cladding

Value: £90,000

Description: The client was inspired by Grand Designs and set out to create a fabulous self-build home with something a bit different and employed an architect to build a 2,500sqr/ft home. The project was very challenging as there were three different systems specified that had to all come together which required a substantial amount of planning when it came detailing. We don’t believe we will find another project like this and the finished project certainly would be a worthy feature on Grand Designs.
